Independence Day 2020

Every country has this one day that is important to remember as the foundation of the country’s creation. This day is known as the Independence Day. Independence Day for the United States of America is always held on the 4th of July. This day is a public holiday for the entire country as it is a day to remember and cherish the sacrifices of our soldiers and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives to get us the independence and strength that we have today.

The 4th of July, is a day to commemorate the declaration of Independence that took place on 4th of July 1776. Independence Day is commonly celebrated with dace painted citizens roaming around the country with passion and patriotism. Further, the day is celebrated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, political speeches and a lot of different ways adapted by individuals to show their love for their country and appreciation for the heroism and sacrifice of their soldiers and their families.

The day is full of love and support from the citizens to their country and countrymen. Although, this year the Independence Day would not be the same as always. Due to the outbreak of the virus in the world, the people are living their lives a different way. People are said and warned to be isolated and to practice social distancing in order to avoid getting the germs of the Covid-19 virus. This year, sadly, the fourth of July will not be the same.

This year, the countrymen will not practice parades or political speeches. There will be no seminars and people won’t be roaming around the streets with their faces painted to celebrate the heroism of their martyrs. There are certain rules this year – we all have to stay safe and practice the orders given to us by our government that includes social distancing, frequently washing our hands, and not leaving our houses unless it’s very important and to specifically not touch one another.

The Covid-19 has been with us since the start of 2020. It has, undoubtedly been a hard year on all of us and we need to make sure to not let our emotions get the best of us. This year, the 4th of July will be celebrated in a different way. Of course, we will definitely be celebrating our Independence Day but will respect to the criteria of the lockdown given by our government.

This year, you can hang flags on the balconies of your houses to show your patriotism. We can sing the national anthem at one time whilst standing in our balconies to make sure to keep the spirit high. We can dress up in our houses and take pictures, social media plays a very important role in today’s world. Individual fireworks can be an option for people who can safely execute it. Family reunions are not an option but families can ensure their reunion on Skype calls together. Celebrate your Independence Day but ensure to be safe!
